Kira Longoria, Ph.D., LPC
Welcome! I’m so glad you’re here. You’re likely searching for a therapist who will help you feel comfortable, understood, and safe. You might have a desire to freely express yourself in a place without judgment, without fear of being labeled or viewed in a certain way. Choosing the right therapist is incredibly important. I have a strong belief that good therapy is based on a strong therapeutic alliance between client and therapist.
My approach to therapy is person-centered, empathetic, and supportive. I am committed to providing a safe environment where my clients can tell their stories without judgment, ensuring they feel seen and heard. My passion is helping couples, adults, and adolescents heal from childhood trauma, attachment wounds, and attachment injuries in relationships. My work focuses on helping my clients see the impact of their early childhood experiences on their current relationships and on their ways of connecting with others.
Humans thrive on connection and belonging, especially with the important people in our lives. We yearn to feel seen, heard and held. When conflict unfortunately happens within our most important relationships, we often use strategies to protect ourselves from further pain and hurt. This usually causes us to either withdraw to protect ourselves, or to make our attempts to connect louder or more demanding. These well-intentioned but often ineffective strategies frequently result in even more miscommunication, disconnection, hurt, anger, resentment, and loneliness. This cycle keeps going and going, making it harder to come back together again and to feel close to our special person. Sometimes it’s hard to imagine ever feeling close again.
We all carry deep fears and wounds rooted in our current and past experiences. It’s scary to sit with all of this, especially alone. I’m here to honor your fears and attachment wounds; I understand that your protections exist to keep you safe. Unfortunately, those strategies likely aren’t working well for you within your relationships. I will work collaboratively with you by creating a safe space in my office to support you as you explore your experiences, express your vulnerable emotions, develop insight, and ultimately discover new ways for your life, and your relationships, to feel better.
